How do I use the Carvey?
- Go to inventables.com
- Click on Easel
- Click explore easel
- Sign in through inventables
- Username = [email protected]
- Password = T!nker
- Click “new project”
- Once you’re in Easel, click on Untitled. Change this to your name and the month.
- For example – mine would be Mrs. Higman Aug, for August
- Change the material to Two-color HDPE
- Change the material dimensions to the following:
- X: 6 in
- Y: 6 in
- Z: 0.24 in
- Make sure the machine is set to Carvey.
- Pick an image from the internet. Save it to the computer.
- Alternatively you can make your own by drawing one
- You can use the icons and the Text function to make one as well.
- Click Import (for images from the internet)
- Pick Image Trace
- Upload File
- Choose file
- Pick your image from the saved images
- It will say uploading – wait until the upload is complete, then it will send you to another screen. Wait until the picture is visible.
- Adjust the threshold to 75
- Hit Import
- The image should show up on your workspace. Adjust it so it is where you would like it to be.
- Make sure nothing is in the pink area on the lower left corner.
- Hit Edit and then ‘Select all’
- Set the depth of your cut to 0.08 inches.
- Make sure the bit is set at 1/8 in
- Hit simulate
- Check your image. Did all the parts cut? How long will it take? Adjust the bit size and keep hitting simulate until all parts of your image are cut. If the time is more than 20 minutes, you may need a simpler design.
- REMEMBER: Mrs. Higman can veto ANY design. Make sure it is appropriate and is less than 20 minutes to carve.
